STAIR SKETCHES

Sketches of stairs inspired by the examples shown in lecture #2. Two of the photos are of some ideas and suggestion from Jacky, how I can integrate stairs with the shapes and theme I already have from my SketchUp model. Last photo is of the sections but find it a little difficult to draw stairs on sections without going 3D.

Bottom level stairs

I wanted to integrate the elements of the upper and bottom levels in this stair. So the interior would have a hexagonal perimeter whilst the centre is a smooth column. I also added the curved panel at the top of the stairs so it will blend in with the show ground.

Upper Level Stairs

This is a set of stairs that carry on the glass features and also shows the idea of being able to have a great view as you climb the stairs. It has a ramp so the motorcycles can be easily transported to the show ground. There is a slight design in between the different sides of the stairs (ramp and steps) where they sort of intertwine as shown in the top photo.

It was difficult not to do more stairs because my model is quite high. These stairs are also part of my sketched ideas where each platform is a different size. The platforms extrude to different depths but is consistent for the side where a person walks on. It is lifted up by thin metal poles, as I would like to maintain a speedy, simple theme for the word 'race'.
